Malawi assures citizens of enough maize despite a harvest drop, aided by Tanzanian imports.

Malawi's Admarc assures citizens of sufficient maize supplies during the 2024/25 lean season, despite a 17% drop in last season's harvest. Supported by Tanzanian imports, Admarc has 240 commercial markets and 119 social markets open, with 36,000 metric tons purchased from local farmers and 10,000 metric tons from the Strategic Grain Reserve. Imports are stabilizing prices, and the government is issuing import permits to ensure market stability.
