Illinois AG report finds Joliet Police used excessive force and discriminated against minorities.

The Illinois Attorney General's Office has released a report following a three-year investigation into the Joliet Police Department, finding patterns of excessive force and discrimination against Black and Brown individuals. The investigation, initiated by the 2020 death of Eric Lurry, involved reviewing thousands of documents and conducting interviews. While the Joliet Police Department disputes the findings, the city and the police department have pledged to work together to improve policing practices and ensure constitutional policing for all residents.
