University of Maine at Augusta launches $7.15M project to expand nursing and cybersecurity programs.

The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) has started a $7.15 million project to expand its nursing and cybersecurity programs. The new Capital Center will be built at the Marketplace at Augusta, doubling the current space for nursing students and including simulation labs that mimic hospital settings. Aimed at addressing the state's nursing shortage, the expansion will increase nursing enrollment and is set to open in August 2025. The project is funded by grants, donations, and contributions, including $4.5 million from MaineGeneral Health.
