Study links fluctuating blood pressure to faster cognitive aging, especially in Black adults.
A study in Neurology links fluctuating blood pressure to cognitive issues in older adults, especially among Black participants. Researchers studied 4,770 participants, finding that higher blood pressure variability was associated with lower cognitive scores, particularly in Black individuals, where the difference was equivalent to 2.8 years of cognitive aging. The study suggests managing blood pressure could help prevent cognitive decline, though results may not apply to other races.
