Rockslide sparks wildfire, damaging Lookout Mountain Incline Railway and closing trails.

A rockslide on Lookout Mountain, triggered by freeze/thaw action, caused a wildfire on December 7, damaging the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway. Large boulders from the slide struck trees and other boulders, causing sparks and heat that ignited the fire. Though a tree hit a power line, the rockslide is considered the probable cause. The railway faces months of repair, and the Mountain Beautiful Trail remains closed.
