Manipur's Chief Minister acknowledges the ongoing ethnic strife and seeks to repeal special army powers in the region.

Manipur's Chief Minister N. Biren Singh acknowledged that resolving the state's chronic ethnic strife will take time, with both state and central governments working on a permanent solution. The state seeks to withdraw the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act from certain areas. Additionally, efforts are underway to locate Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, who went missing from an army campus. The violence stems from a dispute between the Meitei community and the Kuki-Zo communities over ST status.
