A house fire in Burlington forced evacuation; homeowner safe but fate of one cat unknown.

Early Wednesday morning, a fire broke out at a single-story house on Hagemann Avenue in Burlington at 3:27 a.m. The homeowner, alerted by smoke alarms, evacuated safely along with three of his four cats. Fire crews arrived quickly but faced heavy flames from the roof. The fire started in the attic due to inadequate maintenance. Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, and crews worked until 7 a.m. to extinguish the blaze. The fate of the fourth cat is unknown.
