Criminal gangs now control over a third of Brazil's Amazon municipalities, fueling violence and crime.

Criminal gangs, including the Red Command, have expanded into over a third of Brazil's Amazon municipalities, driving a surge in violence and making the region a key spot for transnational crime. Despite efforts by the current government, the report calls for more coordinated policies and local development to curb illegal activities and protect the Amazon.
