Canadians are facing their longest health-care wait times ever, with a median wait of 30 weeks from referral to treatment, up from 27.7 weeks in 2023. The Fraser Institute's study shows this wait is 222% longer than in 1993. Alberta patients face the longest waits at 38.4 weeks, and the longest waits are for orthopedic surgery at 57.5 weeks nationally. Shorter wait times are seen for radiation and medical oncology treatments, at around 4.5 weeks.
