Te Huia rail service adds Pukekohe stop, drops Papakura, aiming to boost North Waikato to Auckland travel.
Starting February 10, 2025, Te Huia's Waikato-Auckland rail service will add a stop at Pukekohe Station, offering direct travel to central Auckland, while discontinuing service to Papakura Station. Pukekohe Station features new facilities like an overbridge, park and ride, and cycle parking. The move aims to improve efficiency and connect North Waikato to Auckland's transport network, supported by KiwiRail and Auckland Transport. Te Huia saw a passenger increase to almost 74,000 in 2024 from 58,000 in 2023.
