Syrian rebels burned the tomb of former President Hafez al-Assad, ending the family's rule.
Syrian rebels torched the tomb of Hafez al-Assad, father of ousted President Bashar al-Assad, in Qardaha. The act, captured by AFP, occurred after rebels seized key cities, forcing Bashar to flee and ending over 50 years of the Assad family's rule. The mausoleum, located in Latakia, also housed the tombs of other Assad family members, including Bashar's brother Bassel.
