St Helens Borough Council and the English Cities Fund have been granted approval for a £30 million regeneration plan for Earlestown, aiming to revitalize the Market Square and Town Hall.
The historic market, one of the oldest in the UK, will feature a new canopy, while the 125-year-old Town Hall will be refurbished and extended, offering community spaces and a revived performance area.
Funded by a £20 million government grant and £8 million from the council, construction begins early 2025.
The project also includes street upgrades to boost retail and evening activity, with plans for the rail station's improvement in the works.
