An inmate at Nigeria's Maiduguri Maximum Custodial Centre won N1 million in a chess competition organized by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The event aimed to help prisoners develop critical life skills and improve mental health, with 42 participants from state correctional facilities. The initiative supports inmate rehabilitation and was backed by Nigeria's House Committee on Reformation.
