Gisborne Hospital's new mental health unit, Te Whare Awhi Ora, was officially opened by New Zealand's Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey. The $31.1 million facility replaces eight beds with ten, including five general, three high-dependency, and two short-stay rooms. This upgrade aims to enhance mental health and addiction support, providing modern care to patients starting January 2025.
