Korean Air is set to finalize its acquisition of a controlling stake in Asiana Airlines today, investing 1.5 trillion won ($1.07 billion) for a 63.9% share. The merger, initially announced in 2020, requires only U.S. Department of Justice approval to be considered complete. Korean Air plans to appoint new leadership for Asiana Airlines next month and integrate the brands over the next two years.
