Kenya nears completion of 11,000 new JSS classrooms, procures textbooks, and plans to hire teachers.

Kenya's Ministry of Education reports that 98% of 3,500 new Junior Secondary School (JSS) classrooms are complete, with a second phase of 7,500 classrooms 70% done. The government has allocated Sh11 billion for the projects, with each classroom costing about Sh1 million. To prepare for the new school year, 9.9 million Grade 9 textbooks have been procured, and 5.5 million distributed. The ministry also plans to employ JSS teachers starting January 2025.
