Study links ultra-processed foods to higher colon cancer risk due to increased inflammation.

Scientists from the University of South Florida and Tampa General Hospital found that ultra-processed foods, like fast food and packaged snacks, may increase the risk of colon cancer by causing chronic inflammation. Analyzing 162 cancer samples, they discovered that diets high in these foods lead to higher inflammation and hinder the body's healing processes. The study suggests that a diet rich in unprocessed foods, along with physical activity and good sleep, could help prevent cancer by reducing inflammation. Early trials using fish oil derivatives show promise in addressing inflammation.
