North Dakota is constructing a $70 million lab to expedite PFAS testing, set to open in June 2026.

North Dakota is building a new $70 million State Lab to improve testing for "forever chemicals" (PFAS) and other environmental concerns, set to be completed in June 2026. The lab will house about 50 staff and is expected to reduce PFAS testing wait times from up to nine months to two to four weeks, aiding in diagnosing and managing exposure to harmful substances. It will also help the state comply with new EPA rules on lead pipe replacements.
