U.S. intelligence chief blames diplomatic failure with Turkey for Syria's Bashar al-Assad ouster.

House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Turner said the ouster of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was due to a diplomatic failure by the U.S. and Turkey. Turner noted the U.S. has troops near the Turkish border in Syria, and Turkey is a NATO ally. He suggested the U.S. could have used this position to mediate the situation with the Kurds but failed to do so effectively.
