South Africa repatriates 5-year-old girl from Mauritius, where she lived with incarcerated mother.

South Africa's Department of Social Development is sending a delegation to Mauritius to repatriate a 5-year-old girl born to a South African mother who is incarcerated there for drug trafficking. The child has been living with her mother in prison and will be cared for by a nominated grandmother in South Africa upon return. The department repatriates distressed South African children from abroad, having brought 22 children back since 2015.
