Over a million Italians, mostly aged 25 to 34, have left the country in the last decade due to low salaries and lack of job recognition. This "brain drain" has cost Italy about 134 billion euros since 2011. For every young foreigner moving to Italy, nearly nine young Italians are leaving. To combat this, Italy offers tax incentives to returning skilled workers, especially those with children.
