Two separate vehicle accidents on snowy routes in Cayuga County resulted in serious injuries and one death.

On December 6th, a pickup truck collided with a Cayuga County snowplow on Route 176 in Ira, resulting in serious injuries to the pickup driver, who was taken to Upstate University Hospital. The snowplow driver was released after evaluation at Auburn Community Hospital. On December 5th, a fatal crash on Route 34 in Brutus involved an SUV and a pickup truck; the SUV driver died, and the SUV passenger was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Weather conditions were cited as a contributing factor in both incidents.
