Tribunal clears Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar of benami property charges, returns seized assets.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his family have been cleared of owning properties through benami transactions by the Prevention of Benami Property Transactions Appellate Tribunal. The tribunal dismissed charges against them, ruling there was insufficient evidence of illegal property ownership. As a result, properties worth over Rs 1,000 crore, including a sugar factory, a flat in Delhi, and a resort in Goa, seized by the Income Tax Department in 2021, have been returned. Advocate Prashant Patil, representing Pawar, stated all transactions were made through legitimate channels.
