Former Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu called for the death penalty for those who kill security personnel in Nigeria, citing the deaths of over 30 soldiers in Niger State and 229 police officers nationwide in the past 22 months. Aliyu urged state governors to fund security agencies adequately and stressed the need for strong consequences to boost patriotism and security personnel morale. The proposal came during a speech at a graduation ceremony for security personnel in Abuja.
