Despite economic fears, most Americans continue charitable giving, driven by values and happiness.

Despite economic concerns, a recent Wells Fargo survey shows that 67% of Americans still give to charity, with 54% doing so even when funds are tight. Economic worries led 29% to give less, but 53% gave the same as last year, and 19% gave more. Happiness, personal values, and cause connections are top motivations for giving, with only 10% donating for tax benefits. Though 52% of Americans don't receive advice on charitable giving, 57% want to be more strategic.
