Cumbria's bus trips rise but remain below pre-pandemic levels, as national use climbs 7%.

Bus travel in Cumbria saw 11.7 million trips in the year to March, up from 10.8 million but below the 13 million pre-pandemic. Nationally, trips rose 7% to 3.6 billion in 2021, still below pre-pandemic levels. The Campaign for Better Transport calls for improved services and a government guarantee for minimum bus services in the Better Buses Bill. Cumbria's bus use has dropped 15% in five years and 30% over a decade.
