Broadway musical "Swept Away" closes on Dec. 15 due to low attendance despite star power.

The Broadway musical "Swept Away," featuring music by The Avett Brothers and a script by John Logan, will close on December 15 after a brief run. Despite a talented cast and high-profile involvement, the show struggled with low attendance, playing to only 61% capacity. The musical, based on a 1888 shipwreck survival story, mixes new songs with tracks from The Avett Brothers' 2004 album "Mignonette." Producers plan to release a cast album on February 7, 2025.
