UN chief calls for end to Syria conflict, urges humanitarian access and political dialogue.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an end to the fighting in Syria and urged all parties to allow humanitarian access to civilians. He emphasized the need to return to a UN-facilitated political process to resolve the crisis, which has been ongoing for 14 years. Guterres highlighted the risks faced by tens of thousands of civilians and urged serious dialogue with his Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, to find a new, inclusive approach to resolving the conflict in line with Security Council resolution 2254.
