Study finds children in mixed-gender schools have more friends, with gender-specific social and academic trends.

A study from University College Dublin found that children in mixed-gender primary schools have more friends than those in single-sex schools. Girls in co-ed schools have closer friendships, while boys focus more on popularity. Girls in all-girl schools have more gender-equal views, but boys in all-boy schools have the least. The research, which involved 4,000 children across nearly 200 schools, also showed that girls are generally seen as more engaged in learning and less disruptive than boys.
