South Africa deporting Janusz Walus, convicted killer of anti-apartheid leader Chris Hani, to Poland.

South Africa is deporting Janusz Walus, the convicted murderer of anti-apartheid leader Chris Hani, to Poland after his parole ended on December 6. Walus, 71, was sentenced to life for Hani's 1993 assassination and spent over 28 years in prison. Despite opposition from Hani's family and the South African Communist Party, Walus was released on parole in 2022. His deportation, which will be funded by Poland, follows the end of his two-year parole period.
