Sergeant Sanford G. Roy, missing since 1944, identified; burial set for hometown in 2025.

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency has identified the remains of Sergeant Sanford G. Roy, a U.S. Army Air Forces technician missing since his plane was shot down in 1944 near Brunswick, Germany. Roy's remains were found and identified through DNA testing and dental records. He will be buried in his hometown of Chattanooga on the 81st anniversary of his death, April 8, 2025.
