Oregon approves the Sunstone Solar project, the largest U.S. solar venture, set to begin in 2026.
The Oregon Energy Facility Siting Council has granted final approval for the Sunstone Solar project, the largest solar project in the U.S., owned by Pine Gate Renewables. The 2.4 GW project will include a 1.2 GW solar array and a 1.2 GW battery storage system. Pine Gate has collaborated with Morrow County to invest over $1,000 per project acre into a fund supporting local agriculture. Construction is set to begin in 2026.
