A $45 million, 150-million-year-old Stegosaurus fossil, "Apex," is on display at the American Museum of Natural History.
A 150-million-year-old Stegosaurus fossil named "Apex," valued at $45 million, is on display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
Acquired by billionaire Ken Griffin, Apex is the most complete Stegosaurus specimen ever found, with about 80% of its bones preserved.
Scientists will study the fossil, conducting CT scans of the skull and analyzing a thigh bone sample, to gain insights into Stegosaurus metabolism and bone growth.
The display will initially be in the museum's atrium before moving to the fossil halls next year.
