BOP plans to close the Morgantown prison and six others due to various operational issues.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) plans to close the minimum-security Morgantown prison in West Virginia due to staffing shortages, infrastructure issues, and financial constraints. The BOP also intends to suspend operations at six other prisons and permanently close one in California. U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has raised concerns over job losses and lack of prior notice.
