Switzerland's Beznau, the world's oldest nuclear plant, will operate until 2033, its operator says.

The world's oldest nuclear power plant, Switzerland's Beznau, will continue operating until 2033, according to its operator, Axpo. First operational in 1969, Beznau provides about a third of Switzerland's electricity. Axpo plans to invest $396 million in the plant, prioritizing safety. Despite calls for an earlier shutdown from environmentalists, Axpo maintains that safety assessments justify the extension.
