SK hynix and Samsung ramp up AI chip efforts, reshaping South Korea's tech leadership.

SK hynix, a leading South Korean semiconductor maker, created two new units focused on AI chips, aiming to strengthen its position in the high bandwidth memory sector where it holds 54% of the global market. Meanwhile, Samsung established an AI Centre within its chip business and made leadership changes to catch up with SK hynix in AI-related memory chips. SK Group also reshuffled its executives, promoting key figures and focusing on more agile decision-making to navigate uncertainties.
