India's SEBI proposes a new auction method to set closing stock prices, aiming to reduce volatility.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) proposes a Close Auction Session (CAS) to determine closing stock prices, aiming to reduce market volatility and improve large order execution. This replaces the current Volume Weighted Average Price (VWAP) method used in the last 30 minutes of trading. The CAS would operate in a 15-minute session, helping minimize price discrepancies and enhance alignment with index performance, especially on index rebalancing and derivative expiry days. SEBI is seeking public comments on the proposal until December 26.
