Dublin Airport CEO pushes new Irish government to lift passenger cap, seeking to handle more flights.

The CEO of Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) is urging the new Irish government to remove the cap on airport passenger numbers through existing legislation. The airport expects to handle over 33 million passengers this year, rising to about 35 million next year. The DAA has proposed raising the cap to 36 million as an interim measure and 40 million in the future. Airlines and the DAA are challenging the Irish Aviation Authority's passenger caps, with a ruling expected from the European Court of Justice by mid-2025.
