Wisdom, a 74-year-old Laysan albatross, has laid an egg at the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, setting a record as the oldest known wild bird to do so. First banded in 1956, Wisdom has outlived at least three mates and raised over 30 chicks. Despite her age, she continues to return to her nesting site annually, with experts estimating a 70-80% chance of the egg hatching.
