Iowa's Safe Haven Law saw its sixth infant surrender this year, with a baby girl now in state custody.

A baby girl born on November 11 was surrendered under Iowa's Safe Haven Law, marking the sixth such case this year. The law allows parents in crisis to relinquish infants up to 90 days old at designated locations like hospitals and police stations without facing prosecution. The baby is now in the custody of the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services and will be placed with a foster family until a permanent home is found. Since the law's implementation over 20 years ago, 72 infants have been surrendered under the Safe Haven Law.
