Canadian stockbroker regulator fines and suspends John Lunam for aiding unauthorized investments linked to a fraudster.

Canada's stockbroker regulator has fined and suspended John David Lunam, a former Assante Capital Management employee, for facilitating unauthorized private investments. The Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) fined Lunam CAD 30,000 and suspended him for 18 months. Lunam helped clients invest CAD 316,500 in private placements connected to penny stock promoter Robert Hillis Miller, who has a history of securities fraud. Lunam admitted his misconduct during an investigatory interview.
