Canadian firm resumes mineral exploration in Papua New Guinea, aiming to address past environmental and human rights issues.

Canadian mining firm Island Passage Exploration (IPX) has begun Phase Four of its mineral exploration in Papua New Guinea's Bougainville region, near the closed Panguna mine. IPX, which holds a 70% stake in the local landowner-controlled Isina Resource Holdings, has been exploring 261 square kilometers, finding gold, silver, copper, and other metals. The company aims to restart modern copper-gold exploration safely, addressing past environmental and human rights issues.
