Bendigo's firefighting helicopters now feature livestreaming cameras to aid in combating bushfires.
Bendigo's air attack firefighting team, using helicopters Helitak 335 and Firebird 305, now has livestreaming cameras to assist ground firefighters during the bushfire season.
These helicopters, managed by Forest Fire Management Victoria and the CFA, can drop up to 3,500 liters of water and operate under a Predetermined Dispatch system, enabling quicker response to fires without needing specific requests.
This system was first trialed in Bendigo in 2012 and is now used by over 50 firefighting helicopters across Victoria.
