Alabama Senate Republicans selected Senator Garlan Gudger as their new president pro tempore, replacing Greg Reed, who is leaving to advise Governor Kay Ivey on workforce development. Gudger, who has served since 2018, chairs the Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development committee. His election by the caucus needs full chamber confirmation in February.
