Volunteers rescued a lost French tourist who was hypothermic on Grouse Mountain, warning against relying on trail apps.

North Shore Rescue volunteers rescued a 22-year-old French tourist who got lost and was stranded on Goat Ridge in the Grouse Mountain backcountry. The hiker, underdressed and hypothermic, followed a trail app that led him to a challenging, unmarked route. Search manager Allan McMordie warned about relying on cell phones and trail apps, urging hikers to inform someone of their plans and be prepared for winter conditions.
