Syrian state news reports that the Syrian army and allied forces are facing an attack by the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Deir Al Zor province. The SDF, a Kurdish-led alliance that fought against ISIS, controls parts of Syria including oil fields with about 900 U.S. troops present. Turkey views the SDF as a terrorist group and supports opposing forces in the region. Clashes continue in several villages.
