MLAs in Odisha are demanding higher salaries and increased pensions for former lawmakers, citing rising costs and medical expenses. Led by Opposition chief whip Pramila Mallik, the request also includes raising the MLA Local Area Development fund from Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore. The Speaker, Surama Padhy, agreed the demands were genuine and promised to communicate the issues to the state government.
