Man sues council to recover hard drive in landfill containing Bitcoin worth £600 million.

James Howells is suing Newport City Council to retrieve a hard drive he accidentally discarded in 2013, which now holds Bitcoin worth around £600 million. Howells seeks either permission to search the landfill or £495 million in compensation. The council, citing environmental concerns and legal ownership rights under the 1974 Control of Pollution Act, wants to strike out Howells' case before trial. Howells' team, including NASA engineers and top barristers, argues that the hard drive's location has been narrowed down and that a "finely tuned" recovery plan is in place.
