International talks in South Korea failed to reach a deal on a plastic pollution treaty.

International negotiations aimed at creating a global treaty to combat plastic pollution ended without a deal in South Korea. The fifth and final round of talks failed to resolve disagreements over whether the treaty should reduce total plastic production and implement global controls on toxic chemicals used in plastics. Canada's Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault expressed disappointment but remains hopeful for an agreement in future talks set for 2025.
