India scraps windfall tax on crude oil and fuel exports to boost energy sector.

The Indian government has scrapped the windfall tax on domestically produced crude oil and the export of petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. Initially introduced in July 2022 due to high oil prices, the tax was designed to capture excess profits from oil companies. However, as oil prices stabilized and the tax became less effective, the government decided to remove it, aiming to boost the energy sector and improve refining margins for companies like Reliance and ONGC.
